Note that although you can start downloading and preparing the update right away, your Apple Watch will need to be on its charger and charged to at least 50% before the update will actually install. Once you've updated your iPhone to iOS 17, you can install watchOS 10 from your iPhone's Watch app or even directly through the Apple Watch Settings app. Jesse Hollington / Digital Trends How to install watchOS 10 on your Apple Watch You can find the instructions on how to do this in our article on how to back up your Apple Watch.Īlthough you shouldn't count on being able to restore an Apple Watch to an older version of watchOS, a backup will still come in handy if something goes wrong in watchOS 10 you'll at least be able to restore things back to the way they were at the point where you installed the update, and if your wearable fails entirely, restore that backup onto a new Apple Watch. Joe Maring / Digital Trends Back up your Apple Watchīefore installing any new OS release, it's always a good idea to have a current backup of your device. Note that you'll need to update your iPhone to iOS 17 before you can install watchOS 10 on your Apple Watch. Apple is drawing the same 2018 line for that, which means that if you're toting an iPhone X or older model, you won't be able to install watchOS 10 even if you have a supported Apple Watch. This means that you will need an iPhone capable of running iOS 17. There is one important catch: As with every watchOS release, your iPhone has to be running the contemporary version of iOS. This includes the 2018 Apple Watch Series 4 and every model released since. These are some of my favorite new features in the WatchOS 10 public beta, but there is more to explore, including logging moods in the Mindfulness app, measuring time in daylight with the ambient light sensor, and NameDrop, which lets you share contact details when someone else's iPhone is brought close to the Apple Watch. The good news is that Apple isn't leaving any more Apple Watch models behind this year if your Apple Watch is running watchOS 9, then you can update it to watchOS 10. If you want to charge beyond this optimized time, tap the circle with the green or yellow charge icon, then press "Charge to full now." This might not appear immediately, as it takes some time to learn your charging habits and will only activate when you are in certain locations where you charge the Apple Watch often, like at home or work. When this feature is active you'll see an open charge ring appear as the Apple Watch sits on its charger. This is called Optimized Charge Limit, and it was already included on the Apple Watch Ultra, but WatchOS 10 adds it to the SE, and Series 6, 7 and 8. WatchOS 10 also lets the Apple Watch learn about your usage and decide when it is a good time to get to a full charge. If you prefer the dock that comes up when you press the side button in WatchOS 9 and earlier, don't worry. With older versions of WatchOS, you either had to go back to the home screen, or long-press on the bottom edge of the screen when you were in another app. Instead of swiping up from the watch face, press the side button. WatchOS 10 also changes how you bring up the control center. But like the iOS home screen, you can customize the Stack even further with a long press and either removing or pinning apps. That December, Poets&Quants named the Rochester Simon MBA our Program of the Year. And in 2018, the University of Rochester became the first school to have its entire MBA program designated as STEM. The next year, Duke University added a STEM Management Science and Technology Management track to the Fuqua School of Business MBA program. ![]() The University of Wisconsin-Madison was the first top-50 school, receiving STEM designation from the Department of Homeland Security for its concentration in Operations & Technology Management in 2016. According to 112 admissions officers surveyed in fall 2022, 30% said their programs are now designated as STEM programs, a significant increase from the 2020 survey, which found only 13% were designated as STEM programs. securing STEM designation - but they also found that universal adoption appears to be a long way off. In a recent business school admissions officers survey, global educational services company Kaplan and its sister company Manhattan Prep found an increasing percentage of full-time MBA programs across the U.S. Yet according to a major new survey, we may be only at the beginning of the STEM movement. The University of Wisconsin Business School was the first school to “go STEM” - to designate part of its MBA a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math degree, with implications not only for visa eligibility but for long-term employability, too - and dozens of B-schools have followed (for a complete list, see the next pages). It seems like everywhere you look in graduate business education these days, you find STEM.įor the last six years, but especially since 2019, business schools from the upper tier of the rankings to the unranked have galloped to establish STEM tracks, concentrations, pathways, and more in their MBA and other graduate degree programs. ![]() However, you can overcome this divergence by simply comparing each individual fund against the average returns of all funds in the large-cap category, regardless of which benchmark they have chosen. ![]() Some of these funds may choose Nifty 50 as a benchmark and others may choose Nifty 100. These funds are required to adhere to the same rules as the fund in question and hence they can be easily compared with that fund.įor example, all large-cap funds are required to invest 80-100% of their assets in large-cap stocks (defined as the top 100 stocks by market capitalization). A category average will include all the funds in a particular category- such as all mid-cap funds or all small-cap funds. When the benchmark selected by a fund is inappropriate, the investor should compare the fund with its category average performance rather than its benchmark performance. How to Overcome the Problem of an Inappropriate Benchmark? For example, Kotak Standard Multicap Fund uses Nifty 200 as its benchmark rather than Nifty 500, despite being able to buy companies other than the top 200 companies listed on stock exchanges. However, sometimes, the selected benchmark may not be completely appropriate and may flatter the performance of a fund. For example, HDFC Top 100 Fund, a large-cap equity fund uses the Nifty 100 TRI as its benchmark while HDFC Equity Fund, a multi-cap fund uses the Nifty 500 TRI as its benchmark. In most cases, SID becomes the benchmark of the fund and is reported on mutual fund and third-party websites. Mutual Funds are required to declare their own benchmarks in their filing documents (called SID or Scheme Information Document). ![]() However, the benchmark chosen can give you a rough idea of the kind of rights you will get. His lawyers deposed the local newspaper reporter whose stories we had quoted. The legal strategy in the VanderSloot case had been designed at every turn to eat up time, money, and mental bandwidth. It was the first we heard about a case that would drag on for nearly three years and cost nearly $3 million, of which more than $600,000 came out of Mother Jones’ pocket. In January 2013, we got a call from a local reporter in Idaho, asking for comment about VanderSloot suing MoJo (as well as the reporter, Stephanie Mencimer, and me personally, for a tweet I posted about the story). It was pretty much how it went when Republican billionaire Frank VanderSloot, a former finance co-chair of Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign, came after us about an article we’d published about political giving and his anti-LGBT rights activism in 2012. That seemed weird, as did the fact that we hadn’t actually been served with any lawsuit.īut then again, the weirdness was familiar. Huh? Neither Clara nor I had heard from anyone asking for a change or correction to the tweets. The complaint claimed that each of the defendants had been “individually offered the opportunity to correct, delete, and/or apologize for their false statements, but each refused.” If you can force news organizations-especially independent ones-to constantly run up legal bills for comparatively trivial reasons, you can do a lot of damage.
